My first post!
Hey Rowaders! I've been a passive observer up to this point, but I finally have some blog-worthy news to post. I just finished my first week and a half of classes, tech training, etc. for my year-long student teaching position in the State College Area School District.
I get to observe my second grade classroom (4 days a week)this Fall while taking my methods courses (one full day and an evening). I will be helping out in the class, but I don't have to do any planning for my mentor teacher. Most of my outside work will be focused on my courses. In the Spring, I will be taking over the class for the most part: writing and executing my own lessons. I'll keep you all posted with stories, pictures and the like. But, for now you can all check out my ongoing blog that we have to keep for class.

Summer Softball is over!
OK, this is my last new post for a while. Our friends the Carneys took this photo of Kelly coming in to home plate on her last day of summer softball when she hit her first ever over-the-fence home run. The whole team ran out to the plate to meet her there. If you guys are on Facebook, Karen Carney's other photos of the summer team are there (I think you can get to it from my page because I'm tagged in one), with a few cool ones of Kelly in full pitching stride.
I'm supposed to be correcting papers now - bye!

More Mutschler visit
Abby posted some great photos below - I especially liked the boogie boarding videos.
Here are a few more photos of the Mutschler's visit to Rhode Island.
We had a great time seeing Sue, Larry, Abby and Zach. The cousins kept getting updates from Michigan where the Tommy Rowaders were visiting - let's have some of those photos, too!
P.S. I think I've finally figured out how to move the photos and captions around.

Green Bay
Although it was a sad occasion, it was also really nice to catch up with so many relatives who were in Green Bay for Grandma Pierre's funeral. Here are some photos from the weekend.
At Denise and Craig's house.
Pierre grandchildren who were still there when the picture was taken. Two of Doug's older children, Chewie (Matthew) and Sarah were also at the funeral with Pam.
Mom can correct me - in the top row are two of Doug's youngest (Joe and Andy?), with John (beard) and Mike Pierre from Montana. Middle row is Robin & Claire, Jean (Anne had already left also), Mike Dale and Scott. Front row is obviously us Rowader girls, then Mike Dale's son John.
All of the Pierre children and spouses. Mary Kay was listed as one of Grandma's children, which was very appropriate.

Girl Scouts in Europe
This is rather late, but we've been running around so much that I haven't posted anything in over a month.
Kelly and I had a great time with our GS troop at the beginning of July, doing a quick tour through Europe. The East Coast thunderstorms kept us from getting to London on time, but we had lots of fun together, anyway. The girls really enjoyed Switzerland the most. Kelly kept saying, "Forget college! I'm moving to Switzerland!"
I'm having some trouble figuring out how to put captions on the photos, and they're getting out of order. Oh well. Didn't know I was so technologically challenged.
In no particular order, then, here's Troop 604 on the London Eye, and Kelly at Platform 9 3/4.
The hills are alive in Adelboden, Switzerland, with silly girls thrilled to be at Our Chalet.
And Kelly and I posed for a few together shots in Paris. She had fun posing for an artist on Montmartre, who drew a lovely portrait of Hilary Swank as Kelly Stevens.
