Sue and Larry had fun with Caleb and Sean at our church festival Saturday. The Pirate Parrot was there and the fun train to ride on. They liked having face painting done and playing some of the games in the Children's Tent. Love to all from Mom.

More California pics

Somehow the automatic posting of photos from my phone didn't work while we were on vacation in California, so I'm trying again.

The kids and I had a great time seeing Laura, Bob, Hanna, Noah and Sue this month in San Juan Capistrano. Lots of beach trips and California sunshine.

Here are a couple of photos from our day at the mission that I had planned to send from my cell phone (Brett is chasing a lizard, of course).

Baby Daniel's Baptism!

Larry and I were thrilled to spend time with Luke, Ashley, Lily, and Daniel for the weekend of Daniel's baptism! Most of Ashley's family came as well as many of their friends from the University of Dallas (UD). Their good friend from UD, Brother Thomas (he's an ordained deacon who will be ordained to the priesthood in August) baptized Daniel. Luke's friend Michael Humphries is Lily's godfather and Ashley's sister Abbey is his godmother. Lily is a bundle of energy and such a fun little girl. She was a little banged up with bruises, scrapes, and a fat lip, which all go with being an energetic two-year old! Daniel is a mellow, sweet little guy who smiles easily and only cries when he's hungry, tired, etc. Can't wait for the next visit!

Laura, Bob, Hannah, and Noah were such great hosts for the invasion of sisters, etc. for the Fourth of July week! Chris, Kelly, Brett, and I had a wonderful time seeing the sights of San Juan Capistrano and Southern California. The pictures will tell the story. Love to you all! Sue

Hi family! While checking out a friend's blog on her trip to Korea, and poking around in the Rowader blog, I discovered that I should be able to send updates to the blog right from my cell phone, so I think I'll try a few posts this week when the kids and I head for the friendly skies on Sunday. We're looking forward to seeing Laura's family and meeting Sue out in San Juan Capistrano. More later...

Sorry about the first non-post! I hit the wrong key!

Just wanted to post a few pictures from Mother's Day, Zach and Katie's visit (Zach treated us to a Pirate game!), and Caleb's bright blue cast! He broke his leg falling from some monkey bars on Tuesday. He'll be in a walking cast in about two weeks. He's a little stir crazy with that full leg cast. Poor Veronica!

Hope you're all enjoying the final weeks of school, and all the beauty of spring! Abby's graduation is this coming weekend!

This morning Rachel Marie Therese was born! Weighing in at a whopping 10lbs, 1oz, she is 23 inches long and 100% cute. Here is the first of many pictures of little Rachel! We're thrilled to have our first niece :)

Greetings everyone! I just moved into college at Quinnipiac University last week; it's about half an hour south of Hartford in Connecticut. I'm currently a media studies major (shout-out to Abby), but that's subject to change if something else strikes my fancy. Just thought I'd upload a few photos.


This is my dorm on move-in day.. it looks a little more cleaned up now, but that's the general idea.


We're in a veeeery scenic spot. Here's the entrance to our library with Sleeping Giant Mountain behind it. I'm sure it'll be stunning when the leaves start changing in a few weeks.


Here's a few of my hallmates and myself inside the castle on top of Sleeping Giant Mountain. It's only a 45-minute hike; I have a feeling I'll be making the trip a lot. My roommate is on the far right. She's only five feet tall!


This is the view from the top of the mountain of New Haven, CT, about 10 minutes south of campus. That strip way out in the water is Long Island.

Tallo visit

We had Kathy & Chris and Emily for a short visit - everyone should look at pictures here:

We visited two beaches and took Emily up to her chess tournaments in Irvine - where she did quite well. Here's some photos of the first tournament she entered, from which she emerged victorious!

There are two empty bedrooms in our house at the moment. Who will be next to visit us? You are hereby invited.

Adventures in Acadia Nat'l Park

Greetings Rowaders!
Hopefully Mom won't be sad that I stole her thunder, but I'm beating her to the blogging chase! Here are a few photos from our excursion to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine, this week. Without softball I was getting a little stir-crazy, and Mom is on summer break until the end of July, so we snuck away for a few days to hike, bike, kayak, camp, and do other Girl Scouty/woodsy things.

^Unfortunately Mom was taking most of these pictures, so we only have a couple of her from the trip... including this one of her trying to capture a teeny dragonfly on camera. It actually came out quite nicely!

There was a ridiculous heat wave in Rhode Island the day after 4th of July (breaking heat records from 1991 - I missed the hottest day of my life!), but we were lounging in sunny, 75-degree Maine. We were pretty pleased to have escaped the whole thing. Poor Dad and Brett were golfing/caddying in a state tournament.. but they made it out alive.

Mutschler News!

Hi, everybody!

It's been awhile since we posted and lots of good news has happened that we want to share! Luke recently earned his Masters in Humanities from the University of Dallas! He was also accepted into the PhD (in Literature) program and will probably start those classes in the fall. He and Ashley have worked so hard this year to raise Lily, work full time, and work on their graduate degrees! We're proud of all they have accomplished and done it so well!

Zach graduated with his degree in Psychology from DeSales University! Larry and I really enjoyed the commencement along with the baccalaureate (sp?) Mass and a dinner/dance the night before. We got to spend some time getting to know Zach's girlfriend, Katie Fleming, a little more, too! She is an RN who is currently earning her BS in Nursing from Immaculata University (in the northern Philly area). Zach will be earning his Masters in Counseling Psych at Immaculata beginning this fall. They should both be done in the spring of 2012. We're sure Zach will make a great counselor someday and are proud of his hard work, too!

Last, but not least, Josh and Veronica found out today that their third child (expected in Oct.) is a little girl! They plan to name her Rachel Marie Therese. Caleb was so funny today when Veronica showed him the sonogram picture of his "little sister". His comment was, "Is that yours?" He's only three and really can't have a clear concept of what a little sister is. I'm sure he and little Sean will just love her when she arrives. We're so happy to have another little girl in the family and can't wait to meet her!

Springtime is softball time

I'm a bit of an obsessed softball fan, but it's OK since it's Kelly's last season. I'm following the team around taking pictures at every game. Yesterday I got to the game rather late, but in time to see Kelly hit a 3-run homer over the fence (that's the ball headed for the fence in the photo)! Very exciting. With that hit they tied the game, but went on to lose by one run. Bummer. So far they have a good record, and will probably end up in the playoffs in early June - right when prom and graduation are happening. The next month and a half are going to be crazy-full of end-of-high-school ceremonies and such. It's going to go by quickly.

I also added my favorite pitching photo of the season. Sometimes the camera gets lucky.

Brett has Science Olympiad tomorrow, and is participating in the 30-hour famine with the youth group at church overnight Saturday. He and Herb have been doing some golfing lately.
